Hixter was originally a metal box factory and is lauded as one of the most unique and versatile venues south of the river. The restaurant by chef and restaurateur Mark Hix is located in Bankside, just a stone’s throw from Borough Market.
Contemporary artwork adorns the walls of the main dining room, reflecting Mark’s passion for art and support of British artists. The walls of the striking open-plan kitchen are built with the Himalayan salt bricks that are used to age Hixter’s renowned Glenarm Estate beef, supplied exclusively to HIX restaurants. Chicken and steak form the heart of the menu, alongside foraged British ingredients, and fish & seafood dishes influenced by Mark’s travels.
Head downstairs to the hidden gem of Mark’s Bar which features an impressive sunken bar and cinema-style bar seating, retro juke box and bar billiards table. Expect seasonal cocktails and small plates, great for sharing, with happy hours throughout the week and late night DJ sessions every month. Here, guests can also book ahead for Cocktail Masterclasses – ideal for groups of friends , team-building or entertaining clients. Hixter offers a variety of flexible private dining spaces for corporate and social events and licensed for wedding ceremonies. For smaller parties the CNB dining room is a bright space bathed in natural daylight enveloped by Luke Embden’s pop-art mural. Adjacent to the restaurant the room is ideal for business lunches and meetings.
The versatile Bull Room features large windows and the option of total privacy thanks to opulent velvet curtains. This room lends itself to breakfast meetings, private dining and drinks receptions.

Throughout the year, Mark hosts a series of exclusive carving masterclasses in The Bull Room which can also be booked for private events. Celebrating this quintessentially British skill. Sharing his passion for British produce whilst you feast on seasonal dishes throughout the evening, Mark shares knife skills and top tips on creating the perfect yet uncomplicated roast meal and dinner party, teaching guests the forgotten art of carving in the intimate setting of Hixter’s private dining space – The Bull Room. The two-hour masterclass includes a Black Cow vodka or Salcombe gin cocktail masterclass arrival and feast dinner including three sharing starters, three carved meats served with seasonal accompaniments and dessert with Tonnix wine throughout.
