The Princess Victoria is a stunningly restored ‘Gin Palace’ with a private dining room that is perfect for that special event. The glittering chandelier lit room, decorated with ornate mirrors, a solid wood floor and with its own marble topped bar has a ‘grand’ and yet at the same time intimate air.
Within months of opening The Princess Victoria was awarded with many ‘gongs’ including ‘Time Out New Gastropub 2008”, ‘Best Wine Pub of the Year 2009’ by Harpers, The Independent’s ‘Best UK Wine List of the Year’ and ‘Newcomer of the Year’ In the Top 30 Gastropubs 2009 awards.
Owned by trio James McLean (himself a former Young Chef of the Year), Nigel Sutcliffe (formerly of The Fat Duck) and Jerome Armit (of The Crazy Bear) along with Head Chef Mathew Reuther (1 Lombard Street) they pool they combined experience of michelin starred restaurants and eateries to this elegant Gin Palace to offer the best of seasonal and artisan ingredients to be enjoyed in a relaxed and informal environment.
The upstairs private function room is flexible in its format, being able to entertain from 15 to 70 people. It is the perfect environment for christenings, wedding receptions and sit down dinners, or maybe a cocktail party with canapés for which late night licences are available on request.
The downstairs bar and private dining area is perfect for larger private dining events or standing receptions. The Grand Dame of the Princess Victoria, this is a beautiful light-filled space full of character, with its own private ‘cigar terrace’.
The shabby chic décor is apparent throughout, with the Dining Room being a more elegant space for more formal dinners. It’s an impressive space in which to hold a fabulous drinks party for 200, or a sumptuous seated dinner for 140.
The menus are predominantly British and reflect an honest approach to seasonal food cooked to the highest standards. This is coupled with an extensive 350 bin wine list that simply offers both great variety and quite exceptional value for money. The room also boasts its own private bar and facilities.
