The Jones Family Project
Unassuming from the street, The Jones Family Project embodies the point where Shoreditch grew up. It’s cool, but not so achingly cool that half the guests feel overwhelmed and under dressed. It’s original and creative, but not try-hard. It’s stylish but doesn’t take itself too seriously. And this is because the owners’ pedigree (from Pitcher & Piano & Rocket) mean they’ve the confidence to deliver a restaurant that’s fun without needing to prove themselves. This high quality steak-and-more-restaurant is spread over two floors, but like an iceberg the ground floor only hints at what’s below. With a variety of sections on both levels available for private hire, as well as the possibility of exclusive use of the whole venue or each floor, the key here is flexibility.
The ground floor has a 70’s retro feel with fun and modern touches – a high ‘Tree Table’, which is great for drinks for up to 15, a seasonally changing pop up area, green banquette booths and a bar that converts from teas & juice by day to drinks at night. With natural daylight at flooding in from the front, it’s an ideal setting for drinks then lunch and standing receptions as well as evening events. The far end can seat up to 45, with the whole floor hosting reception parties of up to 80.
Private dining in Shoreditch
Downstairs (via stairs or a disabled lift) the space is cleverly sectioned into flexible semi-private spaces. A glass sliding wall lined area for up to 50 max demarcates the central Green Room which has 360 views of the rest of the floor including the bar and open plan kitchen. Adjacent is the Orange Room with space for up to 48 seated or 26 on one long table. The Jones Family project can also provide wine tastings here or receptions before guests dine in the Green Room.
For larger parties of up to 90 the glass sliding wall can be withdrawn almost completely as guests relax into the comfy orange bucket-style chairs.There’s also a second ‘Tree Table’ and pop up area – currently themed as Cocktails & Vinyl. This space can host up to 10 for pre-dinner drinks where guests can play records & enjoy themed drinks while relaxing in slouchy leather chairs, but it is also frequently used as a dancing area during larger events.
Although the venue is continually popular for dinners, parties and celebrations, it’s also ideal for product launches, pop-up showcases and corporate lunches with plenty of smaller areas for discrete dining and business mingling.
Parties of up to 16 can choose from the a la carte, while for larger groups the set menus start at £37.50 per person. Each guest receives a trio of the restaurant’s signature starters, and a duo of desserts with either an individual pre-ordered main or family style sharing mains.
Our top tip: For a real blow-out guests can enjoy the Meat Feast set menu @ £55 per guest. With special focus on the top quality cuts of steak and pork, it makes for an impressive banquet!
As you would expect from a quality steak restaurant, all the meat is from multi-award-winning butchers, The Ginger Pig which the Jones Family project cook to perfection on the Josper Grill. However, they also cater happily for vegetarians, vegans and all dietary requirements including a separate gluten free menu. There are also canapé and bar snack menus available.
