Lunch-time celebrations provide specifically different types of Christmas event. From enabling guests to enjoy an iconic view or two, to savouring delights of gourmet cuisine or choosing to enjoy sleek and buzzy surrounds of some of London’s top dining establishments. Here are 12 fabulous venues with private rooms we think’ll make your Christmas lunch-time do a rip-roaring success.

The Newbies

The Petersham, Covent Garden

This stunner of a restaurant, and sibling of the acclaimed Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, takes its uniquely natural yet engaging floral style to the original home of flowers in Covent Garden. With a private dining room for up to 32, it can also be hired exclusively for a magical events for up to 80 in which to enjoy the distinctive ‘slow food’, rustic Italian style cuisine. They offer a set price Christmas menu at £75 for five courses, including a glass of prosecco or Bellini on arrival.

Brigadiers

Newly opened this year, the latest offer from JKS restaurants, Brigadiers, offers three private dining rooms in which to enjoy fabulous Indian barbecued food. The Pot Luck Room for 16 is great for lunch as it boasts a private terrace space as well as a TV screen and ‘help yourself drink station”. Or there’s the Pool Room for up to 20, which features a pool table, whisky vending machine and fast-pour, self-serve beer taps! Feast menus start at £50, while private dining lunches cost from £35 per person.

The Science Gallery

One of London’s most exciting new event spaces and spread over three floors in the heart of London Bridge, The Science Gallery’s Studio provides receptions for up to 100 or (32 seated boardroom style, 48 cabaret and 80 banqueting). With a stunning private balcony overlooking the courtyard and the Shard, it’s ideal for a lunch-time wow factor.  Christmas packages start at £120 per person for standing receptions or seated banquets.

 

Great Lunchtime Views

Aqua

 For amazing City views by day, Aqua Shard, on the 31st floor of this fabulous London landmark, offers no finer. With a private dining room for up to 40 standing (24 seated) The Tea Wing can host parties of up to 150 standing or the Gin win for 200 standing (100 seated). The whole floor can be hired exclusively for 300 standing or 180 seated. With options for canapé, bowl food and full three course menus available, costs per person are around £80.

 

The Petersham Restaurant

For rooms with a view, there’s another Petersham that can really deliver. Just a stone’s throw from central London, the stylishly refurbished Petersham Hotel in Richmond, overlooks the Thames and gently rolling Petersham Meadows. It offers the semi-private Alcove for up to 12 guests or the private Claret Room for up to 20, both of which are superb for an elegant lunch. Christmas menus cost £79 pp, including a glass of prosecco on arrival, three courses, water, tea or coffee, mince pies and a Christmas cracker.

 

Fun & Buzzy

Mews of Mayfair

With so many private dining options it’s hard to choose which room at the Mews, but we particularly love the penthouse Map Room for an intimate 28 guests (seated or 40 standing) and sneak views into the kitchen & natural daylight. Below, the delightfully airy Mews Brasserie can also be exclusively hired for between 45-70 guests. The Mews courtyard, Cocktail bar and Lounge is also a fabulous venue for a Christmas lunch event. All have natural daylight and straddle the Mews lane from which their name derives. Their Christmas set menu costs £70 pp and space for pre-meal drinks can be arranged.

Polpo, Covent Garden

Despite its basement location, the light and airy Aperol Bar at Polpo Covent Garden boasts a double height skylight and can host 30 seated or 35 standing. Christmas menus start at £33 per person for three courses, rising to £39 or the cicheti party menu – charged per piece. Cocktail masterclasses can be arranged for £25 with a peach bellini on arrival, cicheti and 3 Venetian cocktails.

Tom’s Kitchen

A great venue in the heart of Chelsea, this beautifully elegant restaurant offers The Blenheim Suite for 22 guests on one stunning wood table, while upstairs on the first floor, the private room, along with its feature fireplace and large period windows, can host from 20-55 for seated events or 60 for a standing reception.  Christmas menus are available from 20th November and cost £40 per person Monday to Wednesday (£50 Thursday to Sunday). Wine packages from £30pp can also be added.

 

Hotel Hosting

The May Fair

A fantastically glamorous hotel just moments from Green Park tube, this sensational hotel offers a wide range of private dining rooms, but the Crystal (for up to 220) and Danziger (for up to 170) rooms really will provide some daytime glitz to your event. Christmas party packages start at £105 per person, including room hire for reception and meal, drinks and appetisers on arrival, a 3-course menu, half a bottle of house wine and May Fair Christmas crackers.

The Savoy Grill

Gordon Ramsay’s group has a plethora of venues with private room that are great for lunches. The Savoy Grill offers one of the largest options with the D’Oyly Carte room for 42 guests (60 standing or 100 as exclusive takeover of the restaurant) with its authentic 1920’s features and view over the iconic hotel’s entrance, this is sure to provide the required X(mas) factor.

 

 

Quintessential Favourites

Hawksmoor

A classic City destination for steak-loving celebrations, Hawksmoor Guildhall has a classically elegant wood-panelled long room for up to 24 guests, while The Cooks’ Room in Borough, can serve 16-20 and boasts its own open kitchen. Fabulously meaty festive menus have been created and start from £55 per person rising to £65 and £85.

Home House

One of the best things about Home House private members’ club is that you don’t have to be a member to hold an event there. Three fabulous rooms are ideal for holding Christmas lunch events in achingly chic surrounds. The Asylum room seats 18 on one long table or 20 on two rounds, The Front Parlour and Eating Room seats 35 on one long table (80 on rounds), while The Octagon dining room which hosts 20 on one long table or 30 on two long tables. Christmas party menus start at £60 per person, rising to £95, but our top tip is the Christmas lunch package at £75 per person which includes a glass of prosecco on arrival, a classic festive three course lunch, coffee, mince pies, ½ bottle of wine & water.
