Whether you’re looking to host guests who’d like a traditional fine dining Brit-fish experience or something a little lighter and more relaxed the Capital has them all. Fishworks Covent Garden

This popular fishmonger-fronted restaurant is known for the freshness of its daily catch. Its private room, The Cove, can host up to 40 guests seated (60 standing), beneath the main restaurant and offers menus starting at around £35 per person. It’s ideal for personal celebrations but also well-placed for team or relaxed corporate dining – and their classic grilled seafood platter will make an occasion for any event.

Sexy Fish

The Coral Reef Room at this iconic restaurant can host up to 48 guests (or 60 for a standing reception). Known for its fabulous décor – including two live coral reef tanks – the menus are no less impressive and feature the best seasonal fish and seafood in an Asian-inspired style and cost around £85 per person. With a late license till 1.30 am, it’s the perfect venue for birthday celebrations that don’t want to end! Live music can also be arranged with management approval.

Wright Brothers Spitalfields and Battersea & The Cage Soho

Now with five London venues, this British seafood specialist and oyster house has private rooms at three of its sites, hosting from 20 – 30 guests and the Soho venue even puts them in a lobster cage (albeit a big one!). They offer sharing menus or can create bespoke ones, but rough costs per head are around £40. You can even add on a mini oyster masterclass.

Chamberlains

This Leadenhall Market stalwart has been around for over 15 years and as a fish supplier for over 70. Situated on four floors it can host parties from 10 – 200 in it ground floor, terrace and mezzanine areas (top tip! it also does outside catering). Known for its fresh seafood, it offers modern British cuisine as well as classics with fish sourced from nearby Billingsgate

Scotts

One of London’s most iconic and longstanding fish restaurants, it boasts a stunning newly designed private room – complete with fish tank bar – amongst a myriad of other opulent and striking features. It hosts up to 24 guests for private lunches or dinners but can also be used for launches and business networking. A new second private room – The Platinum Arowana Room – can seat an intimate six to eight people, with guests able to choose from a special a la carte menu of exclusive dishes to the room. Menus cost around £70 per person.

Sushi Samba City and Covent Garden

Boasting two venues, this restaurant offers a popular combination of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian cuisine, serving fresh sushi, ceviche and more in buzzy and energetic surrounds. With the City site on the 38 and 39th floor of 110 Bishopsgate, its Lounge can host 40 for a seated event overlooking the main dining room, or 40 in the mezzanine space on one central table or 150 as an exclusive hire of the lounge and bar. The smaller Covent Garden site hosts a Japanese themed room for an intimate 15 guests.

Sticks N Sushi

Focussing on traditional sushi and yakitori from the grill, while there’s plenty fish available, it’s ideal for parties when there are mixed culinary preferences and those who aren’t so keen on fish. Located in the heart of Chelsea, the private Kings Room seats up to 24 and also boasts a show kitchen and bar. Often used for personal celebrations, there are four set menus to choose from starting at £50 per person.

Lucky Cat

With five private dining options hosting from 10 – 40 guests and the opportunity of exclusive hire for parties of up to 160 seated (350 standing), this Asian-inspired gem from Gordon Ramsay really covers all bases. With a range of menus starting with the Lunch Taster at £50 per person, through to the Chef’s Menu at £125 pp, they also offer vegan and vegetarian options as well as a canape menu.

Sake No Hana

One of London’s top fine dining Japanese restaurants, based in the heart of Mayfair, their private room seats 24 or 50 standing, and the restaurant can also be hired exclusively for up to 110 seated (140 standing). With the full selection of stunning Japanese cuisine on offer from freshly made sushi and sashimi, to charcoal grilled, toban and kamameshi dishes, the fish here is second to none. Ideal for corporate events as well as private parties, there’s a minimum spend per head of £39 for lunch or £59 for dinner.

Aqua London – Kyoto

This stunning venue high above the bustle of Regent Street offers three separate areas – one of which, Kyoto – has a Japanese focus. It offers contemporary cuisine including classic sushi and sashimi as well as dishes from the specialist charcoal grill. The intimate private room can seat up to 10 and menus start at around £30 per person. There’s also a stunning roof terrace with its own bar for pre or post dinner drinks – while admiring the fabulous central London views.

Nobu

With three sites around the city, this is one of the Capital’s most iconic Japanese restaurants and each have private rooms to offer hosting from 24 to 120 guests. While the original Nobu Old Park Lane and Berkeley Street offer Japanese with Peruvian influence, the most recent addition, Nobu Hotel in Shoreditch offers a New Style Japanese cuisine and the widest variety of private rooms – with options for parties from 8 to 240. Menus start at around £85 per person.
