Overview

The Greenhouse restaurant continues to win praise for its contemporary French cuisine, exceptional wine list and impeccable service.

It is one of the few restaurants in central London with its own garden, providing diners with a patch of green in the heart of Mayfair. The Michelin starred French cuisine is as unique as the location, which brings together ingredients and techniques from around the world in delicious flavour combinations, accompanied by an exceptional wine list of over 3,000 bins.

The Greenhouse’s elegant private dining room accommodates up to 12 people, offering guests the chance to dine in luxury around a circular table. The dining room is divided from the main restaurant by intricately decorated sliding glass panels. The doors can offer total seclusion or they can be left open so that diners can take in the ambience of the restaurant.

The Greenhouse’s dining room can also be hired for private wine tasting dinners, led by an experienced team of sommeliers.

The room hire is £200 for lunch and £250 for dinner and with a range of menus starting at £35 for lunch it is the perfect location for any event, from focussed business meals to more intimate dining experiences.

Insider View

A hidden oasis in the middle of central London, that’s what The Greenhouse describes itself as and that’s no underestimation. For those who haven’t been to The Greenhouse, it’s a tricky one to find - located on a mews, off a backstreet in Mayfair. The venue is worth the effort, but do make sure you give your guests good directions.
Wedged in between some high rise flats is a long secluded walkway, dubbed the best outside smoking spot in London. The matted path is flanked by bamboo, rhododendrons and sculptures by up-and-coming artist Emily Young.

Inside The Greenhouse the concept of nature continues in an understated way, from the panelled corridor mimicking wooden slats, which takes guests from the reception to the bar and into the main restaurant with its branch features on the far walls to the glass panels of the pdr decorated with etched climbing ivy.

The glass panels also have the effect of allowing diners to feel part of the restaurant whilst removed enough to enjoy more privacy than even the well-spaced tables in the main restaurant could allow.

The private dining room seats 10 comfortably (12 at a push) around a bespoke-built round wooden table with a rose/cream marble central inlay. The colour scheme of dark wood and light pinky-creams gives the room a feminine feel, as do the cream oversize lampshade, stunning show plates made with oxidised metals, the perfume bottle display in the alcoves and grey cream slim-line leather armchairs that are oh-so comfortable.

Room hire is £250 but includes flower decorations. There’s a small bar area, which can be used for receptions before an event, Head chef Antonin Bonnet’s stunning modern European seasonal food is served in the room. Up to eight guests can have the a la carte while larger parties need to pre-select or can choose from a three-choice menu on the night or a tasting menu can be arranged. Wine tastings sessions are also offered.

Unfortunately, due to the proximity of the restaurant’s neighbours, no events are allowed outside in the entrance gardens, so all it can be used for is access and a cigarette break, but it’s so lovely it’s almost worth taking up smoking.
