Pub Function Rooms for Christmas Parties in East & South East London

We’ve saved arguably the best for last, as the East End is currently London’s hottest foodie hotspot – its regeneration knows no limits! Gastro pubs have been part of this rise; old pubs snapped up, redone and revamped at a staggering rate – if the pace keeps up, there’ll barely be a dull & depressing old boozer left (thank goodness!)

We kick off our East End London love affair with the award-winning The Gun. This Christmas the riverside Docklands pub has teamed up with Hendrick’s Gin distillery – transforming their riverside marquee into a Victorian circus complete with private bar, Hendrick’s cocktails, hot gin punch, seasonal food & fairground favourites.

Another ETM Group favourite this side of London is The Jugged Hare over by the Barbican, with its classic British food, and private room named after Joseph Perrier Champagne’s daughter, Josephine, the tone is set for party nights filled with bubbles & fun under vaulted ceilings and restored champagne racks.

Speaking of vaults, they prove a popular draw at this time of year and there’s plenty around the City. The Sign of The Don is another fabulous venue – OK it’s a bistro bar, not strictly a pub – but the Tasting Room Vaults are just superb for an atmospheric party.

In terms of traditional pubs, The Hat & Tun with oak panelled walls and a first floor private room is perfect for intimate Christmas get togethers of up to 10 guests – able to enjoy real ale and sharing feast menus.

Nearby The Clerk & Well takes the traditional pub theme and adds eclectic elements including vintage furniture mixed with a cool neon sign. Food-wise, it’s a little bit different too, instead of providing traditional pub grub, its pan Asian cuisine has scooped a clutch of awards.

Over in Shoreditch, The Owl & The Pussy Cat – has the perfect snug for parties up to 35, the exposed brick walls and hanging bare lightbulbs create a laid back warmth that’s ideal for relaxed partying with friends or colleagues.

Obviously at the heart of the East End regeneration is Westfield Stratford City and over-looking the Olympic Park is The Cow from Geronimo Inns– taking pub wood panelling to a new modern level, it’s ideal for a Christmas after work party or festive friends get together.

Another Geronimo Inns classic overlooking Victoria Park in Hackney, is The Crown, a bright airy pub with plenty of space for parties including the whole of the first floor which can be used as an exclusive hire for up to 50 guests– Christmas menus start at just £34 per person, but it would make an amazing venue for New Year’s Eve too!

Over in South East London, there are plenty of top pubs too, but our top three SE party pubs are the Garrison in Bermondsey – as featured in Difford’s best gastropubs guide, its private area, The Cinema Room comes complete with screen – perfect for showing highlights of the year just gone – or a movie!  While in Camberwell there’s both the Crooked Well  with their home from home menus ideal for getting the dinner party feel without all the hassle of having it at home and the Camberwell Arms – the latter from the same stable as the renowned Southwark pub, The Anchor & Hope.
