Pub Function Rooms for Christmas Parties in South & South West London

South London is awash with fab gastro pubs these days, so much so, that it’s hard to decide what should make it onto our list.

Starting with central-south London, Chelsea and Victoria are littered with old pubs, many of which have been given the gastro-treatment to appeal to the well-heeled local market.

The Chelsea Ram – the first makeover from the now super successful Geronimo Inns which dominate this part of London, is a perennial favourite, managing to mix old school locals, workers and foodies all under one umbrella.  The Phene is a hidden gem in Chelsea providing a bright and cosy converted pub with purple-velvet lounge, fireplaces, bar, library-themed dining room and beach bar-style terrace –  and the Oakley Room with its own bar for up to 70 guests is perfect for large parties, Christmas reunions or work dos. Not to be confused with The Phoenix gastropub in nearby Victoria where mismatched furniture and cheerful décor is combined with a classic British menu. The free wifi & Ipod docking system in the Yalumba private room will ensure your party tunes are right on track!

Spreading out into the wider south London suburbs we hit top party spots mixing with more family oriented areas. In Fulham, The Harwood Arms is a perennial favourite, a rare gem, being London’s only pub sporting a Michelin star, and culinary direction from Brett Graham (of The Ledbury), it takes gastro-pub grub to a new level. While in Putney, The Prince of Wales is offering three Christmas courses for just £28.50 in its chic private room, perfect for a get together of up to 20 mates (or 35 standing).

Balham, Battersea and Clapham boast social hotspots like the Pavement, Lavender Hill and Battersea Rise amongst others. We often find ourselves at The Northcote for a quick drink before or after a dinner but did you know their private room –The Common Room- upstairs can host up to 40.

Other fantastic gastro pubs fit for festivities include The Prince Albert, Battersea, the Fentiman Arms in Vauxhall and The Bull’s Head in Barnes – which has the added benefit, not only of fantastic river views especially from the 1st floor River Room, but of being one of the few local venues to feature live Jazz every night.
