The Private Dining room at Phil Howard’s iconic two Michelin starred restaurant, The Square, has a cosy informality to it. The bright blue artwork and feature wall are the main standout elements of the room, set against sandy coloured washed-effect walls – the room is elegant in its simplicity.
The far wall from the room’s entrance is deep sea blue, complemented by three works of abstract art by Andy Harper which loosely resemble waves – a feature that is mirrored in the wood and glass sideboard with its wavy design. There is also a sparkling black picture, reminiscent of the sky at night, while an oversize mirror also enhances the sense of space within the room. A cream and brown geometric designed carpet serves as an understated foil to these striking works of art.
The Private Dining room can seat up to 10 on a single round table or 18 on an oval setting. There is full air-conditioning and dimmable lights, as well as full disabled access – the room is located before the main restaurant allowing for easy access as well as a certain level of privacy as there is the ability to enter the room without having to walk past fellow diners.
The room is ideal for business lunches and can serve meals within an hour upon request. However more leisurely dinners and private events are also great in this room, as it can be used as a blank canvas for celebrations, post-meeting debriefs and networking dinners.
Menus for the private room consist of three options. A three course a la carte for £105 enables the host to preselect two dishes per course from the current menu the week before their event. The eight course tasting menu costs £130, while the Square’s set lunch menu is also available within the Private Dining room at an extremely competitively priced £50 for three courses. There’s no room hire or minimum spend but a minimum number of 8 guests for the room.
