The Fox Club

One of the quaintest things about London is the hidden clubs which are unknown to all but their members. The Fox Club is one of these, located just off Piccadilly and moments from Green Park tube, it’s an unbelievably convenient venue with nine bedrooms and two boardrooms. Its history is as rich as the area’s inhabitants, being the former residence of 18th century statesman Charles James Fox and his courtesan and wife Elizabeth Armstrong who ran a den of iniquity on the premises.

The rooms are all named after her lovers and each is decorated differently in a modern contemporary style. With a skylight and exposed wooden floors keeping the restaurant light and airy in summer and a working fireplace for cosiness in winter, this space is at the back of the club and can seat a maximum of around 25. The small but cosy bar area, which leads onto the restaurant, is ideal for pre-dinner drinks. The red leaf print velvet banquettes make the restaurant ideal for a working lunch or evening dinner and can work well as a break out area from the two private rooms which are located in the building next door to the main club.

These private dining rooms can be used for meetings or private dinners and food from the club can be ordered either as a working lunch or full meals. The Drawing Room is simply decked out with office chairs, some striking original Georgian features with light blue panelling, a small chandelier and blocked up fire place. The room is practical and unfussy, ideal for a brainstorming or a meeting away from the office for up to 10 people. Upstairs, the Elizabeth Armstrong room is slightly larger, seating around 25, and has an opaque glass oval table with modern leather and chrome directors’ chairs. A funky striped multicoloured rug and light wooden flooring are complemented by the three stunning floor to ceiling windows, making it a very light and airy room even on a grey day. Room hires start from £250 for a morning in the Board Room rising to £895 for all day hire for both meeting rooms.”The Fox Club
