Overview

The location of Zafferano takes some beating. Right in the heart of Belgravia it sits on the captivating Lowndes Street. The façade is lovely and the interior more than lives up to expectations. It is a highly attractive venue from where to enjoy delicious and wholesome Italian cuisine.

This Michelin star restaurant has won several awards not least, the 2009 Tatler Restaurant Award for ‘most consistently excellent restaurant’. It deserves each and every one of its accolades; from its food to its service, design to ambiance, Zafferano sure is a winner.

From the exterior, you will be able to admire smart greenery, a spacious seating area and a neat wooden facade. On arrival, you will be heartily greeted by highly efficient staff dressed impeccably in uniform. Should you choose, you will be ushered through the restaurant to the bar on your left for your pre-dinner drinks.  On your way you shouldn’t fail to notice a display of freshly baked focaccia and mouth watering cheeses. If you manage to walk past those, well done. You will be rewarded by arrival at the bar which is indeed an attractive and modern space with the finest of beverages for consumption.

The key to Zafferano is its atmosphere; from the fashionable and stylish lit bar to the spacious and light restaurant, it is bursting with ambiance. But it is the private dining room designed by David D’Almada that is atmospheric in bucket-loads. A cellar type space tucked away downstairs, you will be blown away by the massive wine cellar that is incorporated in the room. The walls are wonderful in old exposed brick, the wine racks better than any artwork and the lighting is set perfectly with candles all around the room. With a solid central table seating 20-22 and comfy rustic wicker chairs, the A/C controlled room is the ideal spot to cool down and enjoy a romantic environment. You even have your own private toilets so it’s as if the whole floor becomes yours.

Upstairs, should you require a semi private setting or indeed plan to go to the whole hog and rent the entire venue, then Zafferano offers you a spacious and fancy restaurant. Brick walls, stone and wood flooring and a dreamy colour scheme of browns, creams and mushrooms make this space glorious to take in. The striped chairs are a real feature and plants and flowers spill from several corners. Indeed, attention to detail seems to be crucial at this Belgravia place.

All this and we’ve not even mentioned the food which at a Michelin starred restaurant as you’d expect is utterly divine. The set menu alone has 6 tantalising starters that arrive to your table and the meat and fish dishes are what dreams are made of. With such taste explosions packaged in such pleasant surroundings, you should see Zafferano and its private dining room for itself.
