Insider View
This enchanting hoity-toity street in Piccadilly is notorious for its bespoke tailors and luxurious shops including the rather grand Fortnum and Mason. Jermyn Street oozes class and the Cavendish London Hotel is very much at home here for that very reason.
The entrance way and lobby are modernised to perfection with stylish wooden fixtures and deluxe leather seating in various shades from burgundy to teal. A fabulous painting of the Piccadilly landscape is bold in bright colours above the reception desk. Stairs lead you to the private dining rooms where a comfortable and swanky lounge sits on the first floor resplendent with an eclectic mix of urban and ethnic artifacts. The first floor communal space possesses a great deal of pizzazz and makes for a satisfying space in which to gather prior to or following an event.
The Cavendish has five private dining rooms all kitted out with the latest mod-cons and each with cloud-inspired names. Access to the Cirrus room is through the Electra and many guests make the most of the conjoining spaces for fairly large functions. The Cirrus room itself can seat 14 for private dining and has beautiful dark wood panelling on the walls and funky abstract paintings. Frequently, it performs as a break-out space for the Electra or can be a board room site with the Electra more suited for lunch dining.
The Electra, named after the cloud nymph of Greek mythology, can seat 44 for private dining and is in a prime location overlooking Jermyn Street. With new double glazed windows recently installed all street noise is eradicated. It is situated next to the main restaurant Petrichor but is separated by frosted glass doors. A bar and waiting area just outside of the room function perfectly as a cloakroom, for pre-dinner drinks or for meeting and greeting. Inside, table arrangements can accommodate several needs, from banqueting style to U-shaped to smaller groupings. Design is, as in the rest of the hotel, up to date and attractive with Oriental decorative touches.
Three further private dining rooms, the Stratus, Nimbus and the largest of all Alto, are similarly well-equipped and attractive. Stratus seats 14 for private dining and has the advantage of masses of natural light for daytime meetings. Nimbus is the smallest of all seating 10 for private dining and is particularly suited to small corporate affairs. In both, sepia images of clouds take pride of place on the walls and furniture is of the high-quality office variety. Alto is substantial; seating 77 for private dining and as many as 66 for a dinner dance. It can be serviced by a section of the lounge which can be cordoned off especially and the immediate space outside the doorway can be set up with a reception table should you require. Inside, a cubby area works well as a bar and cloakroom and the main room has large windows that open onto a private courtyard allowing light to pour in whilst retaining utmost privacy.
The owners have owned several hotels and for this reason, the design and artwork is immensely enjoyable and miscellaneous; from jungle artwork to tribal vases, flock fabric armchairs to black candelabras. Every effort has been made to dress the Cavendish and its private dining rooms to impress. With state of the art facilities, high class traditional British cuisine and interior design finesse, this hotel in Piccadilly has it all for your special get-together.
