The Berkeley Square
This intimate, chic restaurant lies on the northwest side of Mayfair’s Berkeley Square. It has two floors that seat 75 customers, and includes a retro basement bar, a private dining room and a decked terrace for alfresco eating. The Berkeley Square’s highly acclaimed menu features creative modern cooking that is light, healthy and stylish, with a French-based influence.
The Berkeley Square Bar is not only a great place for an aperitif or after
dinner drink, but also a popular evening destination in its own right. It is
no coincidence that designer Shaun Clarkson has created some of London's most
fashionable night spots, including Denim, Pop and Bartok. On the lower ground
floor of the building, this retrostyle lounge bar is one of Mayfair’s best-kept
secrets. The space is fashionable yet familiar; its discerning crowd are attracted
by its relaxed ambience, friendly staff and inspired cocktail menu. The Mojito
is a perennial favourite. Some would say that the toilets are a true highlight
of The Berkeley Square. Instead of piped music, customers can listen to classic
books on tape read by Britain’s finest actors!
The Berkeley Square has a private dining room which seats up to 14 guests. Situated
on the lower ground floor, this cosy space is ideal for business lunches and
dinners, birthday celebrations and private parties. Guests can choose from à
la carte dining or the excellent fixed-price menu. Please let the chef know
in advance if you would like something special prepared. For larger functions,
such as weddings, the entire restaurant can be hired out. The management are
happy to meet with you to discuss your needs.
The Berkeley Square’s dining room is the perfect setting for a sophisticated
business lunch, a romantic candlelit dinner or an entertaining night out with
group of friends. The space is the stylish creation of top London interior designer
Shaun Clarkson. The décor is contemporary but sumptuous, with aubergine velvet
curtains, rich mulberry carpets and soft mauve walls. The chairs are chocolate
brown leather and the banquettes are vibrant lime. The walls are dotted with
explosions of colour in the form of huge abstract paintings, the tables are
set with ornate china and glassware, and the frosted-glass windows open onto
a decked terrace for alfresco dining. The environment perfectly complements
the cooking: beautiful, tasteful and elegant, with a twist of modern, original
flair.
