Insider View

You probably know fondly of 30 St Mary Axe as ‘The Gherkin’. Towering above its neighbours in the City of London, its distinctive Gherkin-esque shape is avidly loved and its notoriety for second to none private dining is well established.

The building celebrates 180 metres of height and with Searcy’s private dining room on the 38th floor, you really will be sitting with the Gods. The Searcy’s 30/40 restaurant is quite unique, relishing a prime spot atop a world famous architectural gem.  Opening its doors back in May 2004 it has been able to dazzle guests since then with mind-blowing panoramic views of London. Guests can gaze at their leisure from behind the huge beautiful panes of Norman Foster’s iconic landmark out onto a vast ocean of sprawling urban scenery.

The design of the building is meticulously thought out and a corridor leads attendees from the two private dining rooms to the bathrooms, allowing for a full sweep of the level and for landscapes of London in each and every direction. We arrived as a fiery sunset exploded across the horizon and boy, what a spectacle. The view literally stretches as far as the eye can see and there is no other private dining room with quite the same potential for expansive observation of our British capital. The view must be cherished because London will never look the same to you again; from the worm like Thames to the miniscule Olympic stadium, you can sightsee to your heart’s desire.

Searcys has a chain of high end private dining rooms located at famous sites including St Pancras, The Barbican Centre and the National Portrait Gallery.

The company has perfected the art of providing stunning, high class service in prestigious, well loved buildings. The 30/40 restaurant at the Gherkin is no exception. From its pristine tableware to luxurious leather chairs, excellent conference facilities to original Vivien Westwood prints, comfort and extravagance combine for just the right mix of quality and personality.

With two rooms to choose from, one seating 15 and one seating 12 and with both in sight of mesmerising vistas, you should find that Searcy’s 30/40 private dining rooms at the Gherkin are just right for your corporate or celebratory event.
