Portal Restaurant & Bar
A modern European restaurant with strong Portuguese, French and Mediterranean
influences, Portal reflects the passion of veteran restaurateur
and owner, Antonio Correia. Exquisitely fresh and simple flavours, a convivial
atmosphere and unobtrusive service are the hallmarks of this new Clerkenwell restaurant.
The bar area is a meeting point for those wishing to enjoy an aperitif: dry chilled sherry or a glass of Fontaria Branca, the house white, are current favourites. It is also a relaxed eating area for those wanting a light meal of ‘petiscos’ – Latin tapas.
Between the bar, and the bright and spacious dining area with its constant buzz of chatter, is the soul of the restaurant, the busy kitchen. Here classics including roasted sea bass with sun-dried tomato risotto, herb-crusted lamp rump and perennial favourite, braised wild boar are created.
The Adega Room is a warm and sophisticated private dining room. Old white-washed brick walls lined with fine wines from the very best French vineyards surround an elegant dining table capable of seating up to ten people.
The room sits at the end of the main dining area through double glass doors which, whilst admitting the ambience of the restaurant, provide complete privacy.
The Adega Room is equally suitable for a drinks reception, informal light dining or a luxurious meal and may be reserved for private dining, any day of the week, for lunch or dinner. The chefs are available in advance to help you select the perfect menu and the accompanying wines.
For larger parties, a dedicated area of the conservatory-style dining room makes for perfect corporate or family entertaining. For further information or bookings, please contact Antonio Correia on 020 7253 6950 or 07884 441430.
