Overview
Pescatori prides itself on providing exquisite seafood that any connoisseur would adore but that’s not all. This family run restaurant will also tantalize the tastebuds of any bonafied Italian. With its unique Mediterranean menu blending fresh fish dishes and homemade Italian fare, any diner will find this Charlotte street restaurant a real treat.
Pescatori in Fiztrovia opened its doors way back in 1961 as a simple 75 seat trattoria. In 1969 it more than doubled its space by acquiring the next door premises. Then catering for up to 180 diners, the restaurant’s first chef and co-owner Bill Lavarini continued to visit Billingsgate fish market at 5am to gather only the best of each morning’s catches. Indeed, it is Pescatori’s devotion to pure and fresh ingredients that led it being awarded the ‘Insegna Del Ristorante Italiano’ stamp of approval in 1997.
With a recent overhaul of the décor and branding, you’ll find Pescatori is modern and vibrant with light and classic trimmings. Attention grabbing pieces are dotted throughout and in particular, the suspended boat makes for a fun and evocative addition. 100 guests can gather and feast comfortably and outdoor tables allow for small groups to make the most of the summer months.
Refusing to rest on its laurels, this restaurant showcases seasonal dishes with menus that change often and daily specials that fuse old favourites with a funky twist. The focus is always Mediterranean of course; with char-grilling, olive oil, fresh herbs and robust flavours top of the list with each authentic dish. As recently as 2009, Pescatori appointed the highly accomplished John Brodie as their new executive chef. Given his experience with Pacific Oriental and Ken Hom, he is able to bring impeccable creativity and taste to the table.
A wonderful private dining room in your own private basement zone (see our Insider View) showcases its wine cellar roots and ensures that big groups are perfectly accommodated. Ideal for a meal sitting for 55 or standing function for 75, the character and history of the venue shines in this space.
That this is a family establishment even today ensures that the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Staff will guarantee you are perfectly attended to in this jovial place. Given the history, the awards, the drive for fresh, delicious cuisine and the perfect location in the heart of Fiztrovia, what more could you want from Pescatori in Charlotte Street?
Insider View
Newly refurbished, the Private Dining Room at Pescatori is no longer the seaside purlieu that it was.
White stone arches give a unique sense of structure to this basement room splitting it into three. While of course you may choose to use all three sections as dining areas, this room supplies the perfect opportunity for you to create an elegant sense of occasion to your event with reception and post-dinner spaces to frame the dining or party.
The simplicity of the white arches, blue washed walls and delicate shell motifs in this room offer a blank canvas on which you can paint your ideal event, whether it be a multi course sit down meal or a standing canapé and drinks soiree.
The flexibility of the venue is matched by the flexibility of the menu. Although Pescatori is primarily an Italian seafood restaurant, its range of chefs means that its repertoire of menus encompasses the cuisine of most of Europe.
Timeless and elegant, this private dining room is an ocean of possibilities for its visitors.
