Overview

This street is host to several fine dining venues so L’Oranger is right at home. In a convenient location in up-market Piccadilly, you will find the standards high of this delightful French restaurant. With an Orangery inspired structure, charm and class is in abundance.

On arrival you will be greeted by the convivial and ever attentive manager and his team. The waiting area is aside a beautiful arched and curved window complete with decorative glass detailing. The bar on your right is a sommelier’s dream, well stocked with elegant French wines and ahead of you is the beautiful restaurant.

Lauded by Tatler magazine, L’Oranger is both modern and classic. In summery citrus tones, the public dining room has the honour of being under a dramatic glass ceiling which is the very feature that gives the venue its namesake. The area is entirely uplifting, light and bright with comfortable seating arrangements. Indeed, for weddings or birthdays this room has been hired out along with the outdoor courtyard and as you can imagine, this makes for a delightful party spot.

Pickering Square is adjacent to the restaurant. It can be reached separately by the public alleyway from St. James's Street or via the restaurant itself through a set of glass doors. The courtyard is quite remarkable, a series of dramatic and lovely old buildings one of which is the former Texas Legation building of 1842-45.  The area has been covered by a marquee for special events but one cannot ignore the appeal of the sheltered al fresco dining. With actual dining tables clothed in white linen set against the hard stone floor, there really is something exceptional about the space. For dining, pre-dinner drinks or cocktails and canapés it will work wonders to wow your guests.

For a more private event, head into the O’Shea gallery for an aperitif. The countryside inspired art works of Annie Tempest that adorn the walls will be happily familiar. With so many pieces to view and discuss it’s sure to be a talking point for your diners. From here you can enter your private dining room the Drawing room. With vibrant burnt umber walls and more of those famous Tempest caricatures around you, it is a comfortable and sumptuous room and looks onto that delightful courtyard. Curtains and doors can be closed to have you perfectly private and a central oval table can accommodate up to 15.

Downstairs is the grander and more formal private dining room which can seat up to 36 on three large tables of 12. Alternatively, one large table for 24 guests can be provided. Entirely private and with no room hire cost, the space is rich with original dark wood walls, a neutral colour scheme, an extensive wine rack and an array of earth coloured chairs. It will be the perfect place to savour delicious Provencal cuisine cooked to perfection by Head Chef Laurent, who has been resident at L’Oranger since 2004 having previously trained at several Michelin starred establishments. With such treats as lobster and beef fillet and a marriage of French flavours, all you need is a glass of exquisite burgundy and you’re in Heaven.

This collection of unique and luxurious private dining rooms in Piccadilly will be certain to cater for the event you have in mind. If you’re a fan of Gallic food then why not come and see the allure of L’Oranger for yourself?
