Overview

Tucked away behind the busy streets of Kensington, Launceston Place is a beautiful venue with stunning intimacy.

Steeped in history, it stands on land which once formed part of the manor of Earl's Court. With its chic elegance, moody lighting and colourful art, Launceston Place is perfect for every occasion.

Head Chef Tristan Welch is passionate about serving quality modern British cuisine and puts an elegant twist on classic dishes. Tristan works closely with the sommelier to create a full-bodied experience by pairing wines with dishes to enhance his seasonal creations.

Our private dining room is the perfect setting to experience the chefs enthusiasm. The Chefs Office at Launceston Place is our take on the Chefs Table, it is a unique and impressive concept. A personally designed tasting menu served to you by Tristan and his brigade; watch from stove to table with live feed via plasma screen, an interactive and gastronomic experience. The Chefs Office seats up to 10 guests.

Launceston Place also provides fine-dining service for weddings, client entertaining and exclusive events for up to 60 guests.

Known as one of the best restaurants in London, it's clear that something special is happening at Launceston Place.

Insider View

Located on the corner of one of the prettiest streets in London, Launceston Place is a strange mix of understated local gem and destination restaurant – thanks in part to head chef Tristan Welsh’s rising profile on TV programmes such as Market Kitchen, Celebrity MasterChef and Great British Menu.

The restaurant was originally three different houses, which explains its unique lay out. The reception area with its striking jellyfish lampshade and main dining room weave their way around a central bar and benefit from three huge front windows (formerly the fronts of the three separate properties). Even the section of the restaurant which doesn’t directly benefit from the windows has carefully thought out sky lights which keep the whole venue feeling light and modern.

There’s a stylish simplicity to the venue, but warmth is added through the décor of dark chocolate walls, grey carpet, brown leather banquettes and tweedy flecked chairs.

While one section of the restaurant can be cordoned off and used a private room for around 25, if you want a more discrete meal, the chef’s office, hidden down a set of winding stairs, seats from 6-10 guests.

The room’s interior design is based around a library feel, so the bookend wall paper, fireplace, large boardroom-style table, candles and standard lamp all contribute to the feeling of exclusivity and intimacy.

But this is after all, a Chef’s office, and as such there is also a live screen link up to the kitchen, allowing diners to see what’s going on in the heat of service. (The screen can also be used for presentations).

Guests can get as much or as little of the ‘kitchen experience’ as they want, with some choosing to just watch the action on the screen and maintain a safe distance, while others opt for the full exposure, getting stuck into the kitchen, chatting with the chefs and helping with cooking. The odd ‘omelette challenge’ – a regular favourite on Market kitchen - has also been known to take place with Tristan in a starring role.

There’s no room hire and no minimum spend. A three course lunch is £45, while a three course dinner is £65. Menus in the chef’s office are bespoke and created on the day from the best seasonal ingredients being used in the restaurant. Depending on guest preferences these can range from three to eight courses. Wine pairing dinners can also be arranged.
