Overview

Hibiscus was originally located in the picturesque market town of Ludlow, Shropshire.

In 2007, its 2-Michelin starred chef/patron Claude Bosi moved the much loved restaurant to the heart of Mayfair.

Since inception Hibiscus has been awarded a plethora of awards, including recently ranking #43 in the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best restaurants list.

The modern yet discreet décor echoes details of its former countryside location – soft oak-panelling and Welsh slate feature both in the main restaurant and in its discreet private dining room.

The private dining room can accommodate a maximum of 18 people seated, or 30 for a standing drinks reception.

Beautifully set aside from the main restaurant it is the perfect space for critical business meetings and also special occasions.

There is no minimum spend and no room hire fee.

Each event is bespoke to your requirements.

Insider View

There’s a certain mental picture conjured up if you describe a private dining room as having gold wallpaper, four chandeliers, a gold voile screen and browny-gold velvet curtains. It falls not far short of a gaudy bordello. But in fact, although Hibiscus’s private dining room has all these things, nothing could be further from the truth.

Whether it’s owner Claude Bosi’s French origins which given him an innate sense of style or a very clever interior designer, these features are all combined to create a grown-up room, with rich colours that is both calm and muted yet luxurious.

Situated in the basement, it has no natural daylight but the lighting is modern and stylish coming from the chandeliers which have baubles in the shape of classic light bulbs and can be varied according to the time of day and occasion. For parties wanting a degree of privacy, it’s ideal as guests go straight from the restaurant’s reception downstairs to the pdr without having to walk through the main room.

It seats a maximum of 18 (30 for a reception) around an oval table. The sandy coloured velvet table cloth is matched by curtains at the end of the room and the ribbed velvet chairs.

Of course the main reason for dining at Hibiscus is the two Michelin starred food from Bosi. Dining options in the private dining room are a two choice set three course menu for £90 per person or a six course tasting menu for £115 per person. There’s a wine list of around 550 bins – handily, the cellar is opposite the private dining room.

Situated just off Regent Street, it’s in a corner which – with Wild Honey and Pollen Street Social just around the corner - is fast becoming a little gourmet hotspot. The room can be used for corporate events or personal celebrations and is often used at the weekends for special occasion family get togethers.

There’s no room hire and no minimum spend for parties over seven, but for six and under there’s a minimum spend of £500. Oh, and for foodie fans and menu collectors (there are more than you think), Bosi is happy to sign menus as a momento if requested.

For bigger parties, the main restaurant can be hired exclusively for up to 48 guests, and is a classic room featuring creams and beiges and white clothed tables providing an elegant atmosphere.
